Join Ball Celebration

Supporters for the Flora Macdonald Ball from Charlotte, Raleigh, Atlanta and New York were in town this past weekend to join local citizens in setting the Flora Macdonald Ball on its course.  This was a kickoff celebration for the ball to be held in October of 2006 in conjunction with the Flora Macdonald Highland Games.  The event culminated in a dance on the Flora Macdonald campus that featured award-winning musicians, Mara Shea of Durham and Jim Stevenson of New York.  Others on hand to lend their skills were Jack and Jamie Pressley, leaders of the Charlotte Scottish Country Dance Society, Barbara and Brian Youngman with the Raleigh Scottish Dancers and Rhiannon Giddens, a contra dance instructor.  Alumni from Flora Macdonald College, Vardell Hall and Flora Macdonald Academy as well as many community leaders were also in attendance at the celebration.  More information on the Flora Macdonald Ball can be found at www.floramacdonaldball.com.

Next year's Kickoff Celebration is schedule for December 3rd 2006. Save the date!
